LOS ANGELES — Filmmaker Michael Mann, director of the crime classic ‘Heat,’ was injured Saturday when a holstered weapon accidentally discharged at a Los Angeles gun range, his representative told CBS News.
‘On Saturday, at a gun range, a weapon accidentally discharged while holstered resulting in a superficial injury to film director Michael Mann,’ the representative said in a statement.
Mann, 83, was treated at a hospital and was being released, the representative said Sunday.
CBS News reported that Mann has been an experienced target shooter for decades and that the accident happened at a sanctioned range.
His films include ‘Collateral,’ ‘Thief’ and, most recently, ‘Ferrari’ with Adam Driver. He is developing a sequel to ‘Heat’ that is expected to begin filming early next year.
