Two 15-year-old girls have been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to carry out a shooting at Corona High School in Southern California, the Corona Police Department said Tuesday, ABC News reported.
The investigation began in early October when the FBI alerted local police to threats on social media. Police first arrested a Corona High student, then a second student who attends nearby Norco High School.
Investigators said the pair “spent several months researching school shootings” and discussed how to attack the school on an unspecified date. Their messages showed they talked about getting weapons but had not obtained any, and none were found in searches.
Both remain in custody on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. FBI Director Kash Patel said the potential attack “was disrupted before anyone was harmed.”
