PHOENIX — Two Phoenix Mercury legends are headed to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
Diana Taurasi and former Mercury coach Sandy Brondello are among six members of the Class of 2027, to be inducted June 26, 2027, Arizona Sports reported. They will be the eighth and ninth Mercury members inducted.
Taurasi spent her entire 20-year career in Phoenix and retired as the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer with 10,646 points and its leader in 3-pointers made. She is the only player in league history to top 10,000 points and ranks third in assists.
She won three WNBA titles, two Finals MVPs and a league MVP, was an 11-time All-Star, and won three national championships at UConn.
Brondello coached the Mercury from 2014 to 2021, winning Coach of the Year in 2014 and leading the franchise’s most recent championship team. She won another title with the New York Liberty in 2024 and became the Toronto Tempo’s first head coach in 2025. As a player, she was a 1999 WNBA All-Star and a three-time Olympic medalist.
