PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns are publicly backing Jalen Green after a two-point night in Friday’s 127-120 loss to Denver dropped them to 1-3, with a trip to Golden State up next on Monday.

Green scored two points on six shots in 25 minutes against the Nuggets, according to Hoops Rumors, which cited The Arizona Republic. Coach Jordan Ott and guard Collin Gillespie both said the team is “riding with JG” as he works out of the slump.

Gillespie gave the Suns a lift off the bench with 16 points and 10 assists. Oso Ighodaro, back from injury, had 9 rebounds and 5 assists in 20 minutes, the report said.

Phoenix finished the game without Dillon Brooks, who was ejected in the third quarter with a Flagrant 2 foul after his foot struck Jamal Murray on a jump shot. Teammates rallied around him afterward. “I feel like if it was anyone else but Dillon doing that, he wouldn’t have gotten ejected,” forward Miles Bridges said, according to Sports Illustrated’s Suns On SI.

Ighodaro also questioned the call but said officiating was not why Phoenix lost. “We didn’t lose the game because of the refs, so we just gotta keep finding ways to get better,” he said.

The Suns play the Warriors in San Francisco on Monday, then return home to face Portland on Wednesday and Orlando on Thursday.
