SAN FRANCISCO — The Phoenix Suns let a 17-point lead slip away and lost 116-113 to the Golden State Warriors on Monday night, their third straight loss, Arizona Sports reported.
The defeat drops Phoenix to 1-4, the same start the Suns had last season before they turned their year around.
Phoenix played its best quarter of the season to open the game, outscoring Golden State 31-19. But the Warriors scored 32 and 42 points in the middle two quarters to take control.
The Suns rallied with a 9-0 run sparked by Jalen Green, Miles Bridges and Dillon Brooks to go up two with 5:29 left. Down the stretch, Devin Booker missed a turnaround jumper, Stephen Curry stripped him for a fast-break chance, and Booker fouled out with Phoenix down five and 58 seconds remaining.
Booker finished with 26 points on 8-of-18 shooting and five assists. Bridges scored 21 points with four steals, and Brooks added 18. Green had eight assists and eight rebounds, his most assists as a Sun.
Curry led Golden State with 34 points and seven assists. Phoenix guard Jordan Goodwin left in the second quarter with a right calf injury and did not return.
The Suns host the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.
