SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was ejected in the third quarter of Monday’s game against the Phoenix Suns after he grabbed Suns center Khaman Maluach and took him to the floor, Arizona Sports reported.
Maluach had established position in the paint and scored through contact on an and-one play. Green fell after the bump, then grabbed Maluach with both hands and pulled him down, according to Arizona Sports.
Green was whistled for a foul and then given a technical foul for the takedown. Suns forward Dillon Brooks ran over and got in Green’s face, and after a review, officials gave both players technical fouls. The second technical meant an automatic ejection for Green.
Brooks was seen talking with Stephen Curry after the scuffle.
Green finished with four points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 17 minutes.
Even without him, Golden State rallied to win 116-113. Backup center Charles Bassey scored 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting after Green left, Arizona Sports reported.
The NBA has not announced whether any further discipline will follow. Arizona Sports noted the league rescinded several technical fouls last season after review, and the Suns could argue Brooks’ technical should be taken back.
