AUSTELL, Ga. — One person died and several others were injured Monday afternoon in an incident involving a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia, about 15 miles northwest of Atlanta, the Associated Press reported, citing Cobb County police.
Officials did not say how the person died or how the others were hurt. A Six Flags spokesperson said the company was “deeply saddened” and cooperating with investigators.
The incident came a month after Six Flags Magic Mountain in Southern California said it would retire its X2 coaster amid lawsuits alleging brain injuries. Six Flags recently settled a wrongful-death suit over a 22-year-old man who died after riding X2 in 2022.
