WASHINGTON — Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., was hospitalized after having a stroke Saturday, his office said, according to CBS News.
Murphy began feeling numbness in his arm at his son’s hockey game and was taken to a local hospital, chief of staff Allison Herwitt said.
He was transferred to Johns Hopkins and is responding well to treatment, she said. ‘The doctors are encouraged by his progress, he is awake and alert, and we are optimistic he will make a full recovery.’
Murphy, 53, has served in the Senate since 2013 after three House terms, and has been campaigning for Democrats ahead of the midterm elections.
