Scottsdale Police Say Man and Woman Died in Apparent Murder-Suicide on 87th Way

SCOTTSDALE — A man and a woman who were rushed to a hospital after a Friday evening shooting on 87th Way have died, and Scottsdale police now say the case appears to be a murder-suicide, according to an update reported Saturday by Arizona’s Family.

Officers first responded around 6 p.m. Friday to a home west of Pima Road and north of McDowell Road. Early descriptions of the call included aggravated assault and an attempted suicide. Police said that night the incident appeared isolated to the residence and posed no ongoing danger to the neighborhood.

On Saturday, authorities confirmed both adults died at the hospital Friday night. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner had not yet determined causes of death. Scottsdale police said they would not release the victims’ names or further injury details while the investigation continues.

Neighbors described a calm evening that turned chaotic when officers flooded the cul-de-sac with firearms drawn. One resident told Arizona’s Family he was scared as units ran toward the end of the street. Detectives were still working to piece together what led up to the shooting.

Anyone with information can contact Scottsdale police through official channels. This report updates earlier coverage of the Friday response, when both victims were still fighting for their lives.
