Phoenix SARMS Pharm Owner Sentenced to Prison; Company Must Close and Forfeit $1.8 Million

PHOENIX — The owner of a Phoenix company that federal prosecutors say sold unapproved, steroid-like drugs nationwide is headed to prison, and his business has been ordered to shut down, KTAR News reported Friday.

Prosecutors said Jeffrey McIndoo’s company, SARMS Pharm, earned at least $3.5 million between 2017 and 2022 selling SARMs, compounds that mimic testosterone and anabolic steroids and are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Chinese manufacturers shipped the drugs as powders labeled as other products to slip past federal inspectors, according to prosecutors. Some of the powder was turned into injectable liquids at the company’s Phoenix office and warehouse before being shipped to customers. Employees also opened bank accounts in other names to keep the money out of reach of law enforcement, prosecutors said. One 2021 buyer was an undercover federal agent.

McIndoo pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drug charge, and the company pleaded guilty to smuggling conspiracy. U.S. District Judge Sharad H. Desai ordered the company to forfeit $1.8 million and close, and gave McIndoo a $1,000 fine and a year of supervised release in addition to prison time.

He must report to prison by Jan. 8.
