The White House said Tuesday it asked Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, to resign after several news reports alleged she sold access to Trump administration officials.
The reports said Guilfoyle traded that access for money, gifts and favors. President Trump told reporters Monday he was thinking about firing her. On Tuesday he said, “She was doing a good job, but we didn’t like what we were reading.”
Guilfoyle is a former Fox News host and was once engaged to Donald Trump Jr. Her response was not included in the initial reports.
Until a new ambassador is confirmed, the embassy in Athens is expected to be run by the deputy chief of mission.
