Florida executed William Reaves, 77, by lethal injection Oct. 20 at Florida State Prison near Starke, the state’s 18th execution this year, The Associated Press reported.
Reaves was convicted of first-degree murder in the 1986 shooting death of Indian River County Deputy Richard Raczkowski.
He was the eighth prisoner over age 70 executed in Florida this year. The state set a record with 19 executions last year and would tie it if another execution scheduled for next month is carried out.
