Binance resumed withdrawals for Bitcoin, Ethereum and several other major cryptocurrencies Sunday, days after more than $6 billion in assets was stolen from the world’s largest crypto exchange, CBS News reported.

“First batch network now opened in phase one of withdrawals,” the exchange posted on X. As of 5 a.m. Eastern, Binance said it had restored withdrawals for Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, XRP, Base, Doge and Optimism, and would bring back more networks as security checks are completed.

The FBI said Saturday that North Korea was responsible for the theft, which happened on or about Oct. 29. The bureau blamed a Pyongyang-linked group known as TraderTraitor, the same group accused of a $1.5 billion theft from the Bybit platform last year.

The FBI said it has seen TraderTraitor converting stolen assets into Ethereum and expects further laundering through decentralized finance and instant swap services. It urged private companies to block transactions tied to the group’s addresses.

Binance has said it will cover 90% of the losses using company funds to buy tokens to replace much of what was taken, CBS reported.

News of the hack, believed to be the largest crypto theft ever, sent most major cryptocurrencies sharply lower on Friday.
