PHOENIX — Dry weather is moving back into Arizona after a soaking weekend that dropped up to 8 inches of rain in the high country, but flooding worries are not over, according to Arizona’s Family.
Parts of the Valley received 2 to 5 inches of rain between Friday and Sunday, while higher elevations saw 5 to 8 inches, the station’s forecasters said.
The Flood Watch has expired, but many areal and river flood warnings remain in effect, and water is still flowing high and fast across the state.
In Pima County, rain totals ranged from 1.5 to 3.5 inches in the Tucson area and topped 6 inches in the mountains, according to KTAR News. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said it responded to 16 river rescues.
Phoenix also saw rain on Halloween for the first time since 1987, KTAR News reported.
The rest of the week looks dry and mild in the Valley, with highs in the low 70s Monday rising to the upper 70s by the end of the week and morning lows in the 50s. Next weekend should stay dry, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
Forecasters urged extreme caution near rivers, washes and low-water crossings through at least midweek.
