PHOENIX — Five stretches of Arizona highway remained closed Monday night because of flooding, and state transportation officials say there is still no estimated time to reopen them, according to a release from the Arizona Department of Transportation.
ADOT listed State Route 87 near Winslow, between mileposts 344 and 346, and another section of SR 87 south of State Route 264, between mileposts 398 and 400, among the closures.
State Route 89A also stayed closed between Sedona and Kachina Village, through Oak Creek Canyon, from mileposts 375 to 397. US 191 was closed in Rock Point on the Navajo Nation, and State Route 288 remained closed between mileposts 271 and 302.
There was one bit of good news. Northbound State Route 377 north of Heber-Overgaard has reopened, ADOT said.
The agency said crews are also responding to rockfall across northern Arizona, using plow trucks to clear debris off highways.
ADOT warned drivers never to enter flooded roads or washes. Hazards can be hidden under the water, and just a few inches of running water can sweep a car away, the agency said.
Drivers can check current conditions at az511.gov, on the AZ511 app or by calling 511 before heading out.
