Broncos asked about Trey McBride, but Cardinals won’t trade him: report

An NFL game in progress

GLENDALE — The Denver Broncos checked in on Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, but the Cardinals made it clear he is not available, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday.

Schefter reported the Broncos have been calling around the league about tight ends. McBride, a Colorado State alum and Colorado native, was among the players they asked about, according to Arizona Sports.

McBride, a two-time Pro Bowler, leads the NFL with 66 catches and has 544 yards and five touchdowns through eight games. He is under contract with Arizona through 2029.

The Cardinals have already been busy before the deadline. They traded quarterback Jacoby Brissett to the Baltimore Ravens on Friday in a deal that included a 2027 fourth-round pick, and earlier sent wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans in a deal that included a 2027 second-round pick.

National outlets have linked other Cardinals, including safety Budda Baker and edge rusher Josh Sweat, to possible trades. Schefter reported Nov. 1 that the Dallas Cowboys were a team to watch for Sweat.

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, so more Cardinals moves are possible in the coming days.
