NEW YORK — Carrie Coon wants Taylor Swift on “The Gilded Age,” Billboard reported.
On “The Tonight Show,” host Jimmy Fallon played back the clip of Swift’s October 2025 appearance in which she slipped into an impression of Coon’s character, the ambitious matriarch Bertha Russell.
“It’s very good,” Coon said, clapping. She said she missed the bit when it aired but woke up the next morning to “thousands” of texts and Instagram messages about it.
“It’s the right affectation. And she’s so Bertha, she’s such an entrepreneur. Bertha would be like Taylor Swift if she was living today,” Coon said, according to Billboard.
In the original clip, Swift used Bertha’s theatrical accent to tease how she and Selena Gomez dressed as teens, joking about “aggressively colorful skinny jeans” and adding, “Mrs. Astor hated it.”
Asked whether Swift should guest on the HBO drama, Coon said she “should,” suggesting Swift would be an excellent nemesis for Bertha, or maybe a best friend who helps her defeat a rival.
Swift’s screen credits include “New Girl,” “Valentine’s Day,” “The Giver,” “Cats” and “Amsterdam.” CBS News also spoke with Coon about the show’s fourth season.
