PHOENIX — A man was hurt after falling into a 6-foot-deep sinkhole that opened in a backyard near 24th Street and Thomas Road, according to FOX 10 Phoenix and ABC15.
A pickup truck also partly fell into the hole, the reports said.
Emergency crews rescued the man, who suffered a chest injury. He was reported to be in stable condition.
The sinkhole opened as heavy rain soaked the Valley over the weekend. Parts of the Valley received 2 to 5 inches of rain between Friday and Sunday, according to Arizona’s Family.
Residents who notice cracks, dips or holes opening in the ground after heavy rain should keep people and vehicles away and contact the city or a professional.
