TEMPE — The Arizona Cardinals are turning to a familiar face to patch a thin receiver room, signing free agent wideout Zay Jones, according to multiple reports cited by Arizona Sports.
Jones, 31, played for the Cardinals in 2024 and 2025, his last regular-season action. The Houston Texans released him this year after one preseason game.
The move comes after receiver Jalen Brooks was lost for the season with a wrist injury, another hit to a group already depleted by the trade of Marvin Harrison Jr. Arizona reportedly also worked out Ronnie Bell, James Proche and former ASU receiver Xavier Guillory.
In 19 previous games with Arizona, Jones caught 20 passes for 267 yards and no touchdowns. He served a five-game suspension in 2024 following a league review of a 2023 arrest, and tore his Achilles in Week 10 of 2025.
His best season came in 2022 with Jacksonville: 82 catches, 823 yards and five touchdowns. His career totals of 307 catches, 3,295 yards and 18 touchdowns give the Cardinals experience. Only Trey McBride and Kendrick Bourne on the roster have topped those numbers, according to Arizona Sports.
