PHOENIX — Drivers heading south on State Route 143 in Phoenix ran into a full closure early Tuesday, Oct. 27, after a crash at University Drive, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
In a release sent to news media at about 6:30 a.m., ADOT said the southbound lanes of the Hohokam Expressway were shut down and that it had no estimated time for reopening them. Northbound SR 143 was not affected.
The agency urged motorists to plan for delays and use another route. SR 143 is a key link between Loop 202, Sky Harbor International Airport and Interstate 10 for commuters heading toward Tempe and the southeast Valley.
ADOT did not release details about the crash, including the number of vehicles involved or any injuries. Thee Arizona Times will update this story when the lanes reopen.
