NEW YORK — Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind the Claude chatbot, filed Monday for an initial public offering, setting up one of the most closely watched market debuts in the AI boom, CBS News reported.
The company’s S-1 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission shows $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, up from $1.2 billion a year earlier. It is not yet profitable, reporting a first-half net loss of $80.7 billion, more than six times the roughly $13 billion it lost in the same period of 2025.
Anthropic plans to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker “ANT,” and the offering could come as early as November.
The IPO is seen as a test of investor appetite not only for Anthropic but for the chipmakers, data center builders and other companies powering AI. Analysts at LightShed said the company “could become the most valuable company in the world. It could also end up in bankruptcy.”
