MIAMI — Yung Miami is done waiting on a slow rollout. The former City Girls rapper said Friday that her debut solo album, Watch Dis, arrives Oct. 23, and she opened the campaign with two songs and a video on the same day.
“F You,” produced by London on da Track, flips the title of a Yo Gotti and Meek Mill record and looks back at what she says she climbed out of. “2008,” produced by J White, comes with a video and reaches back to the Southern rap sound of that year. J White also produced “Spend Dat,” her biggest solo hit. That song reached No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped Urban radio, Rap Airplay, and Rhythmic radio. A remix added Lil Baby and Kodak Black. An international version added Davido, Shenseea, and Vybz Kartel.
Miami said she heard people count her out and decided against playing it safe with one song. On X she called the album personal and a bet on herself. Complex reported that Quavo, G Herbo, Lil Baby, Kodak Black, Shenseea, and Vybz Kartel are among the names expected on the project. Pre-orders are up now.
The timing is the point. City Girls made her famous as half of a duo. Watch Dis is the first full solo album, stacked onto a hit that already proved she can carry a record without the group name on the sleeve. Oct. 23 is the date she picked to make that case in public.
