SCOTTSDALE — A driver accused of going the wrong way through Old Town Scottsdale early Saturday struck a police officer on a bicycle and drove off before being caught a short distance away, KTAR News reported, citing the Scottsdale Police Department.
Officers spotted a vehicle driving erratically against traffic around 3 a.m. near Scottsdale and Camelback roads, police said. When they tried to pull it over, the driver sped up and hit an officer who was on a police bike.
Officers later found the vehicle near Scottsdale Road and Gold Dust Avenue and arrested the driver without further trouble. He was booked into jail on several charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer.
The officer was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Police did not immediately release the driver’s name.
