SUPERIOR — Drivers headed between Superior and Miami should plan around two overnight closures of US 60 later this month, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
ADOT plans to close the highway from 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, to 4 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, and again from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19.
Crews will install concrete girders for a project replacing the Queen Creek bridge east of Superior, according to the agency.
During the closures, eastbound drivers can take southbound State Route 177 through Winkelman to northbound SR 77. Westbound drivers can take southbound SR 77 through Winkelman to northbound SR 177.
ADOT said the detour is about 75 miles long and is expected to add roughly an hour to trips between Superior and Miami, so drivers may want to travel before 9 p.m. or after 4 a.m.
Lane restrictions, reduced speeds and a 12-foot vehicle width limit will remain in place for the length of the project. ADOT said oversize loads may be accommodated with advance notice.
