The comments came as Washington waived new sanctions on Moscow and signed a deal to import Russian diesel, steps that the AP said have pushed U.S.-Ukraine relations to a new low.
Zelenskyy has said easing pressure on Russia rewards President Vladimir Putin while the war continues. European allies have voiced concern about the shift in U.S. policy.
The diesel deal comes as fuel prices remain high in the U.S., with diesel near record levels in states including Arizona.
Trump was campaigning in Kansas on Monday for Sen. Roger Marshall ahead of the Nov. 3 midterms.
