ANCHORAGE, Alaska — President Donald Trump will fly to Alaska on Tuesday to rally for Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan, a sign of GOP worries about holding Congress three weeks before the Nov. 3 election, the Associated Press reported via KTAR News.
Trump is headlining a rally in Wasilla, about 45 miles north of Anchorage, as part of a western swing that also takes him to rallies in Arizona and Montana on Wednesday.
Sullivan, seeking a third term, faces Democrat Mary Peltola, a former congresswoman running on an “Alaska First” message.
Democrats last won a Senate seat in Alaska in 2008. But high gas prices tied to the Iran war and persistent inflation have hurt Trump’s approval ratings enough to give Democrats hope, the AP reported.
“Dan Sullivan’s a great senator,” Trump said last week.
