SELIGMAN — Police in Tijuana, Mexico, say they have found Shayna Feinman, the northern Arizona woman who disappeared in March 2024, but the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and her family say they cannot yet confirm it is her, FOX 10 Phoenix and Arizona’s Family reported.
Tijuana’s Secretariat for Security and Citizen Protection said municipal officers located the woman in the city’s Encino neighborhood after reports of someone matching Feinman’s description and placed her in protective custody while officials contact her relatives and U.S. consular staff. Mexican officials have not said how she may have reached Mexico or where she has been.
“At this time, the information remains unconfirmed, and there is insufficient evidence to verify her identity,” Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Paul Wick said, adding that detectives are actively investigating. Her sister, Kara Feinman, said she has not spoken with the woman and is waiting for the sheriff’s office to know for certain, noting this is not the first reported sighting.
Feinman, then 38, was last seen March 9, 2024, in the Hyde Park area between Seligman and Peach Springs. In August 2024, the sheriff’s office announced second-degree murder charges against her boyfriend and another man, but court records show those charges were dismissed in January 2025. Her remains were never found.
Thee Arizona Times will update this story when Arizona authorities confirm or rule out the woman’s identity.
