TEMPE — The Tempe Police Department has introduced its newest K9, a drug-detection dog named Cash, KTAR News reported.
The department said the name fits: Cash and his handler have helped seize more than $2 million in street-value narcotics and illegal drug proceeds. Police described him as hardworking with a nose for drugs.
Tempe has five full-time K9 teams trained to detect drugs and explosives, search for people, help apprehend suspects and appear at community events, according to the department’s website.
The dogs live with their handlers’ families.
