OKLAHOMA CITY — The Phoenix Suns caught Oklahoma City at its most banged-up and still couldn’t cash in, falling 125-114 on Monday night, Oct. 26.
Ajay Mitchell scored a career-high 30 points and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 26 for the Thunder, The Associated Press reported. Jalen Green led Phoenix with 20 and Dillon Brooks scored 19.
Devin Booker finished with just three points on 1-of-7 shooting, with seven assists and no turnovers, according to Arizona Sports. It was his first full game in single digits since November 2023.
Oklahoma City played without starters Jalen Williams, who broke his leg the night before, Chet Holmgren (right leg tendinitis) and Cason Wallace, who tore the labrum in his left shoulder. Alex Caruso also sprained his right ankle in the second quarter and did not return.
The Thunder closed both quarters of the first half on a combined 29-15 run to lead by 14 at the break. Phoenix trimmed the gap to 10 late in the third when Gilgeous-Alexander and Mitchell got into foul trouble, but couldn’t get closer. The Suns made 18 of 50 three-pointers.
The loss dropped Phoenix to 1-2. The Suns host the Denver Nuggets on Friday, Oct. 30, in an NBA Cup game, then visit the Golden State Warriors on Nov. 2.
