RENTON, Wash. — The Seahawks signed running back Velus Jones Jr. off the practice squad on Saturday and placed rookie Jadarian Price on injured reserve, a swap made before Sunday’s game against the Chargers.
Price, Seattle’s first-round pick out of Notre Dame, was ruled out Friday with a chest injury. Injured reserve means he must miss at least four games before he can return. He first got hurt in the Seahawks’ Week 2 win at Arizona, played the following week, and aggravated the injury in Wednesday’s practice, coach Mike Macdonald said.
Jones had already been elevated for the opener against the Patriots and for last week’s game in Washington. Cornerback Trevon Diggs and safety Maxen Hook were also elevated from the practice squad for Sunday and will go back afterward. Hook is up for the second week in a row after making his NFL debut last week.
Diggs, who signed in August, is in line for his first regular-season appearance with Seattle if he plays. A 2021 All-Pro and a two-time Pro Bowler, he has started 64 of 67 career games. He played one preseason game after joining the Seahawks and intercepted a pass in the third preseason game at Kansas City. The Chargers game is Seattle’s Week 4 assignment.
