PHOENIX — Valley drivers face several full freeway closures this weekend as construction crews work on paving, widening and bridge projects, the Arizona Department of Transportation said in its weekend travel advisory.
Northbound SR 51 will close between Glendale Avenue and Shea Boulevard from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, until 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, for pavement work, with northbound on-ramps from Indian School Road to Northern Avenue also closed. ADOT suggests Glendale Avenue to Seventh Street and Cave Creek Road, then Cactus Road back to the freeway.
In the East Valley, eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway will close between Gilbert and Williams Field roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for widening, along with eastbound on-ramps from Arizona Avenue to Val Vista Drive. The westbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Arizona Avenue will also be closed all weekend for bridge work, and the westbound Price Road off-ramp closes from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday.
In the northwest Valley, eastbound Loop 101 will close between 75th and 51st avenues, and eastbound Loop 303 will close between I-17 and 43rd Avenue, both from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
Farther south, SR 347 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction at times between the City of Maricopa and Casa Blanca Road during overnight paving Friday through Monday. ADOT says schedules can change with weather and urges drivers to check az511.gov or call 511.
