PEORIA — Calls started coming into Valley auto body shops within an hour of Wednesday’s hailstorm, and some cars were too damaged to drive in, Arizona’s Family reported.
“The phone calls came in probably within the first hour of the storm hitting,” said Keith McKay, general manager of Autobody Solutions Peoria. Damage ranges from scattered dings to windshields punched through, he said, and some vehicles had to be towed.
McKay said a quick look in daylight can miss a lot. Under bright shop lighting and measuring grids, technicians often find more dents than owners expected.
Repair times depend on how bad the damage is and how fast parts and insurance approvals arrive. One severely damaged car could take up to a month, McKay estimated.
His advice: take photos, call your insurance company and get in line at a shop you trust. “There’s a lot of people in the same boat,” he said.
