PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia police officer was shot and killed and another was wounded early Saturday while responding to a report of a man with a gun in West Philadelphia, the Associated Press reported.
Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel identified the slain officer as Shane Seiber, 40, a 10-year veteran of the department. Both officers were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center for surgery, and the surviving officer was in stable condition.
Gov. Josh Shapiro ordered flags lowered to half-staff in Seiber’s honor. He is survived by his wife and two children, ages 7 and 3.
