PHOENIX — Firefighters knocked down a large fire at a north Phoenix hotel early Friday, the second fire at the same property in about two months.
Crews were called shortly after 5:30 a.m. to the Travelodge by Wyndham near 25th Avenue and Greenway Road, close to Interstate 17, Arizona’s Family reported. Flames had already reached the roof when the first firefighters arrived, and the call was upgraded to a second-alarm response to bring in more crews.
Phoenix Fire Department crews had the fire under control in about 30 minutes. No injuries were reported. The building is believed to be vacant, but firefighters still had to search it to confirm no one was inside.
ADOT traffic cameras along I-17 captured the blaze and smoke during the morning commute, FOX 10 reported.
The cause is under investigation. On Aug. 16, a fire at the same hotel affected more than 50 units and displaced about 30 people.
