MOHAVE COUNTY — A California man has been arrested in connection with counterfeit money passed in western Arizona, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office told KTAR News.
The sheriff’s office identified him as Michael Shawn Wedge, 40, of Needles. Working with Bullhead City police, investigators obtained surveillance video that identified Wedge and his vehicle, and he was arrested after deputies located the car. He had seven counterfeit $100 bills, according to spokesperson Anita Mortensen.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department helped search his home, where investigators said they found evidence of counterfeit production and a stolen motorcycle.
Mortensen said the arrest closed six active sheriff’s cases, and Bullhead City police identified Wedge as a suspect in at least two more. He was booked on three counts of forgery, two counts of fraud and driving on a suspended license.
