Some Maricopa Voters Still Waiting on Mail Ballots Sent Oct. 7

PHOENIX — Maricopa County mailed ballots on Oct. 7, but more than a week later some registered voters still had not received them, the Recorder’s Office said.

Recorder Justin Heap wrote Thursday that similar delays cropped up during the primary and that his office expects remaining ballots to arrive via USPS this week. Voters who still lack a ballot by the end of the week should contact his office for a replacement.

A day earlier, the office pointed to the large volume of ballots and “recent operational changes” at the U.S. Postal Service as possible factors. ABC15 said it had sought comment from USPS.

Sena Mohammed of Our Voice, Our Vote Arizona told voters not to panic: check registration and mailing status at BeBallotReady.Vote, request a replacement online or at 602-506-1511, and remember the last day to ask for a mail ballot is Oct. 23. In-person early voting and Election Day centers remain options at Locations.Maricopa.Vote.

“Even in the face of these obstacles, we just can’t surrender our right to vote,” Mohammed said.
