Federal prosecutors on Oct. 7 announced charges against a Minnesota man in an alleged ISIS-inspired plot targeting the Mall of America in Bloomington.
According to charging summaries reported that day, the suspect had shared extremist material and discussed carrying out an attack on the massive shopping center, one of the Midwest’s best-known tourist draws. It was not immediately clear whether he had a lawyer.
Mall of America and local police said there was no continuing threat to shoppers after the arrest. The case added to a string of ISIS-inspired prosecutions in the Upper Midwest over the past decade.
