NEW YORK — Former NBA guard Malik Beasley is negotiating a plea agreement with federal prosecutors after pleading not guilty in July to charges tied to a sports betting scheme, his attorney told the Associated Press on Saturday.
Attorney Steve Haney said the talks are moving toward “an expected direction in the coming days.”
Beasley, 29, is accused of fixing or trying to fix his performance in at least four games while with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024 in exchange for bribes from bettors and reductions in debts he owed to former teammate Ed Davis. Prosecutors say Davis, a co-defendant, acted as a “gatekeeper” in the scheme. Sports agent Paolo Zamorano has also pleaded not guilty.
The case is part of a broad federal gambling investigation that has led to more than three dozen arrests. Beasley last played for the Detroit Pistons in 2024-25.
