BENSON — Eastbound Interstate 10 east of Benson is open again after a crash closed the freeway for several hours Friday, the Arizona Department of Transportation said in emailed advisories.
ADOT first announced the closure at milepost 316 shortly before 3 p.m. Friday, warning drivers to expect delays and find another route and saying there was no estimated time for reopening. Westbound lanes were not affected.
In a follow-up alert sent a little after 6 p.m., the agency said all eastbound lanes had reopened but that drivers should still expect delays while the backed-up traffic cleared.
ADOT did not release details about the crash or whether anyone was hurt. The stretch of I-10 between Benson and Willcox is the main route between Tucson and New Mexico.
