San Manuel Nation Buys Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Luxury Resort

SCOTTSDALE — The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess has a new owner: San Manuel Investment Authority, acting for the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation, announced the acquisition of the 750-room luxury resort on 65 acres in the Sonoran Desert.

Chairwoman Lynn Valbuena said the tribe is welcoming Princess staff and guests into its portfolio of luxury non-gaming properties and plans to stay active in Scottsdale’s business and Tribal community. Regional vice president and general manager Jack Miller called the deal the start of a “next chapter” with a partner focused on long-term stewardship.

The Princess sits beside TPC Scottsdale, home of the PGA Tour’s WM Phoenix Open, and features Privado Villas, a 44,000-square-foot Well & Being Spa, Arizona’s only Sisley Spa, six pools, and restaurants from chefs Richard Sandoval and Michael Mina. It has held AAA Five Diamond status since 1991 and earned the Timeless Diamond designation in 2025.

For Scottsdale’s hospitality corridor, the sale keeps a high-profile resort brand in place while shifting ownership to a California-based tribal investment authority expanding beyond gaming — a signal that Valley luxury assets remain in demand even as water and housing debates dominate state politics.

The resort will continue to host popular local events such as Freedom Fest and Christmas at the Princess. More details are available at scottsdaleprincess.com.
