Corbin Burnes Opts Into Final Four Years of D-backs Deal: Report

PHOENIX — Starting pitcher Corbin Burnes plans to opt into the final four seasons of his contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks, keeping him in Arizona through 2030, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported.

Burnes signed a franchise-record six-year, $210 million deal after the 2024 season, edging Zack Greinke’s $206.5 million contract from 2015, Arizona Sports noted.

The four-time All-Star and 2021 National League Cy Young winner arrived with a reputation for never missing starts. Since signing, however, he has made 14 starts in two years after undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2025 and dealing with shoulder issues during his ramp-up this past season.

“Just kind of a normal offseason. I didn’t have one last year,” Burnes said on locker cleanout day. “It’s been essentially almost two years of kind of non-stop arm care, throwing, whatever may be coming out of the surgery.”

He said he hopes to begin ramping up again in November or December.

Both Burnes and the D-backs have expressed optimism that a normal offseason will help him bounce back in 2027.
