TEMPE — Latino voters in Arizona are less supportive than non-Latino voters of four ballot measures on this year’s ballot, including a voter ID proposal, according to a new Arizona State University poll.
The 2026 ASU Status of Arizona Voters Poll was conducted by ASU’s Center for Latina/os and American Politics Research and its Hispanic Research Center, the university said in a news release distributed Oct. 28 and received by the Thee Arizona Times tip inbox.
The poll found Latino voters were less supportive than non-Latinos of Proposition 144, a voter ID measure, by 8.5 percentage points; Proposition 319, dealing with photo traffic enforcement, by 10.5 points; Proposition 142, dealing with race and ethnicity preferences, by 7.6 points; and Proposition 318, on bathroom use by sex, by 3.9 points.
Age also mattered. Older voters backed Prop 144 by 8.3 points more than Gen Z voters ages 18 to 29, and Prop 318 by 5.8 points more, according to the release. Younger voters were 6.1 points more supportive of Prop 319’s prohibition on new photo enforcement.
The survey was fielded Aug. 18 through Sept. 4, 2026, and includes 1,300 observations, about 700 of them from Latino voters, ASU said.
The poll’s co-principal investigators are Stella Rouse, director of the Hispanic Research Center, and Francisco Pedraza, director of the Center for Latina/os and American Politics Research.
The researchers concluded that neither Latino voters nor younger voters move as a predictable bloc on the measures. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
