TEMPE — Arizona State’s bye week is over. The Sun Devils host Baylor tonight at Mountain America Stadium, a Big 12 game branded Maroon Monsoon, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. MST on ESPN.
ASU is 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference, according to its official schedule. The Sun Devils opened with a 70-7 win over Morgan State, lost 20-48 at Texas A&M, and held on for a 24-17 win over Kansas in the Union Jack Classic at Wembley Stadium on Sept. 19. Tonight is the first home game since the opener. The winner would move to 2-0 in Big 12 play.
Baylor comes in 3-1 and 1-0 in the league, CBS Sports’ preview listed Saturday. Arizona State’s next home date after this one is Oct. 10 against Hawaii, a Hall of Fame Game on FS1. The conference road slate after that includes Texas Tech and BYU, and the Territorial Cup at Arizona is set for Nov. 28 at Casino Del Sol Stadium in Tucson.
No result was in when this story was filed. The game had not kicked off. What is settled is the setting: a night game in Tempe, a team coming off its only bye, and a chance to stack a second conference win before the schedule turns toward October road trips.
