Anthropic said Wednesday it will add official U.S. voting information from the nonprofit Democracy Works, plus election results, to its Claude chatbot later this month ahead of the Nov. 3 midterms.
The company said the goal is to make Claude useful for political questions while limiting election-related abuse. Official where-to-vote and how-to-vote data is meant to steer users away from rumor and deepfakes in the final weeks of the campaign.
AI companies have faced growing pressure from election officials and civil-society groups to keep chatbots from inventing polling places, deadlines or results. Anthropic’s move follows similar efforts by other platforms to lock down political content during the midterm window.
