KRAKOW, Poland — Six people were killed and 15 wounded Saturday, Nov. 7, when a gunman opened fire in Krakow’s crowded Main Square, the AP reported via NPR.
Police said the shooter, a 24-year-old Polish citizen, fired at random people as he drove into the square, a major tourist destination. Four women and two men were killed. Two police officers were wounded, one seriously.
The gunman was shot and wounded in a gunfight with officers nearby and taken to a hospital for surgery, police said.
A police spokesperson said he wore military-style fatigues and a bulletproof vest and used a military-type long gun. Police found more weapons and ammunition in his car.
