PHOENIX — Two Phoenix City Council incumbents are cruising toward new terms, but the fights for two open seats will drag into 2027, KTAR News reported.

As of Wednesday evening, Councilman Kevin Robinson led Michael Del Prete in District 6 by 64.6% to 35.4%, according to KTAR.

Councilwoman Kesha Hodge Washington had 72.4% of the vote in the three-way District 8 race, ahead of Frank Abasciano Jr. at 18.1% and Jarrett Barton Maupin Jr. at 9.4%.

Candidates need more than 50% of the vote to win outright. If no one reaches that mark, the top two advance to a runoff on March 9, 2027.

District 2 is the tightest race in the city. Matt Evans led with 34.5%, or 17,208 votes, followed by Julie Read at 33% and Danny Mazza at 32.5%, with fewer than 1,000 votes separating all three, KTAR reported. Jim Waring could not run again because of term limits.

In District 4, where Laura Pastor is term-limited, Ed Hermes took 40.2% of the vote in an eight-candidate field to claim a runoff spot. Fewer than 650 votes separated Ashley Harder, Patricia Jimenez and Cassandra Hernandez in the race for the second spot.

The four winners will take office April 19, 2027, joining Mayor Kate Gallego and council members Ann O’Brien, Debra Stark, Betty Guardado and Anna Hernandez.

Ballots are still being counted across Maricopa County.
