Jay Feely Blames Biden for Most Price Hikes as CD1 Race Tightens

The U.S. Capitol

PHOENIX — Republican congressional candidate Jay Feely defended President Donald Trump’s economic record Monday, arguing that most of the price increases Americans face happened under former President Joe Biden, KTAR News reported.

“If we’re in any way having an honest discussion about where prices have gone, the majority of that happened under the Biden administration,” Feely said on KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona’s Morning News.

Feely said food inflation has been 2.7% over the past year, below the 100-year average of 3.4%. “If you bought something in 2021 for $100, today it costs $127,” he said, adding that $21 of that increase came under Biden.

His comments came as a new AP-NORC poll found just 17% of U.S. adults approve of Trump’s handling of living costs, with his overall economic approval at a low of 26%, KTAR News reported.

Feely, running against Democrat Amish Shah in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, said he has disagreed with the administration on Colorado River water, arguing Arizona faces a disproportionate share of cuts and that Upper Basin states should share the burden.

Election Day is Nov. 3.
