PROVO, Utah — Arizona State freshman quarterback Jake Fette is in line to make the first start of his college career Saturday at No. 8 BYU, Sun Devils coach Kenny Dillingham said on Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta.
Whether Fette starts depends on sixth-year quarterback Mikey Keene, who is questionable with a knee injury suffered in his first ASU start last week against Kansas State. “The plan is probably Jake, but Mikey practiced all week,” Dillingham said, confirming an initial report by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Fette took over against Kansas State and helped spark a 28-17 comeback win after ASU trailed 17-14. He completed 3 of 6 passes for 45 yards over four full drives, Arizona Sports reported.
Freshman running back Cardae Mack carried the offense in that game, scoring all four ASU touchdowns.
Fette was ASU’s top recruit in its 2026 class and the 11th-ranked quarterback in the nation, according to Arizona Sports.
The Big 12 road game is at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo.
