WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump announced Friday that Katie Zacharia, a communications adviser for his media company, will be the next White House press secretary, the Associated Press reported.
Trump made the announcement on Truth Social, calling Zacharia “a loyal and brilliant supporter, right from the beginning.”
Zacharia is a conservative commentator for Trump Media & Technology Group. She briefly worked as a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson earlier this year and has been a commentator for Fox News and Newsmax, according to the AP. Her LinkedIn profile notes a law degree from Pepperdine University.
She succeeds Karoline Leavitt, who announced her departure Aug. 12 and left Aug. 27. Fox News said Leavitt will join the network as an on-air contributor Nov. 1.
Zacharia did not immediately respond to a request for comment, the AP reported.
