PHOENIX — Phoenix police arrested two men in the burglary of a storage unit belonging to MLB outfielder Daniel Johnson, a day after asking the public for help, KTAR News reported.
Daniel Thompson, 48, and Michael Hummel, 30, were arrested after detectives learned they had tried to sell a pair of shoes taken from the unit, police said Friday.
The unit near 24th Street and Campbell Avenue held about $93,000 in sneakers, team gear and other items. It was burglarized Sept. 27.
Officers served a search warrant and recovered shoes, electronics and clothing bearing Johnson’s name, according to police.
Johnson, 31, has played for Cleveland, Baltimore, San Francisco and Houston. He told ABC15 he was storing his gear and shoe collection while his home was being remodeled, KTAR reported.
Both men are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
